Fredericton Flood - 2008

The video leaves a lot to be desired, but c’est la vie.

Yes, it crested - way high - yesterday. At least in Fredericton.

I’m not sure what that use to be. Bike path? Walking trail? Small road? Whatever it was, it’s a whole lotta water now.

And that I live on a hill?

I think I probably did. But as breezy as my comments may be, there’s some serious flood business going on here with the normally lovely Saint John River.

Old friend?

This guy looks the same woodpecker guy who was pecking away last year. Maybe it is; maybe it’s a relative or offspring. Whatever the case, he/she is here with the same old jackhammer imitation.

As a matter of fact, there is quite a population of birds out in the backyard these days. Must be spring!

I’m in what they call the Hill Area of Fredericton, here in New Brunswick. Most of the time, I moan and complain about the hill because it’s a huge pain walking up and down, especially with groceries and such.

But these days, I like the hill. Indeed, I’m comforted by it. Here’s why:

Fredericton, Saint John River 2008

Yes, the Saint John River has risen. Rather a lot, I’d say. I found this image, and many others, on Charles Leblancs Other Blog.

Coffee drinking dog

The dog keeps drinking my damn coffee!

Molly Bloom, coffee drinking dog

Maybe if I drank water from her bowl, she’d get the message that there are some things you just don’t share. Like a cup of coffee!

Yes, I’ve been a very bad blogger lately. But lifestyle changes can have that effect. Between having a house (as opposed to an apartment or condo), and a dog (as opposed to a cat), and a new location and new friends … I ain’t had no time!

By the way, what kind of winter has this been? The bike says it all:

I stole this from Scarlet Hip, who stole it from Ubermilf, who stole it from someone else, who stole it from someone else, and so on, and so on … And in my unoriginality, I even stole most of this text.

Here is mine:

I’d be interested in hearing this disc if it existed.

The plows were working overnight. And this morning? Here’s what I had at the end of my walk. (And this is after I’d already shaved about a foot off the top of it.)

Molly and me and the snow

I’m not really obsessed with snow even though all my videos suggest that. But there’s just been so much of it this year. Take today, for instance …
