How did golf manage to become an idiot’s game?

This is, of course, the 21st century so it should be no surprise that the modern golfer is clueless as to why it’s an enjoyable sport.
The modern golfer manages to denude the game of it’s best qualities and insert the charm of the self-centred asshole. Example? How about, ‘Golf rage’ leaves man with dislocated shoulder from CBC Alberta.
Not that I’m a pro or even play the game, but it always seemed to me that golf’s greatest appeal was:
- You play against yourself
- It’s slow (yes, the game is supposed to be slow)
