A snowy day, a determined cyclist and stomping
March 9th, 2006 by Bill
Today began with a flurry of snow. Unlike the gentleman pictured here, I didn’t feel this was the morning for a cycle round the town.
The temperature is right on the freezing mark: 0 degrees Celsius (32 Fahrenheit). So the flakes are big and wet. And the streets are white and brown and slushy and very, very messy.
When it’s snowing, especially when it’s this kind of snow, it’s quite lovely and joyous. Later, when it stops, it’s the kind of thing that makes you grumpy, especially if you have to shovel it (that’s not me – I live in a condo), or if the bottom of your pants are wet and muddy.
Days like this often sound like Lord of the Dance with people stomping their feet to knock the snow off their shoes. That, too, can be a bit annoying. (There’s very little rhythm associated with the stomping.)
And that’s what’s happening in north central Alberta today.

Better you than me!
Hi, just stopping by to say I have been sick & not into reading, but next week when I am on vacation I will come back & read all I have missed! xoxox SG
This morning it was a brisk 66 degrees here in Fort Lauderdale. My students were all wearing winter coats.
Flounder - doesn’t matter. The Oilers made pretty good trades so I’m happy.
spinning - get well soon.
Brooke - How do they survive under those frigid conditions?
It’s going to be close to 80 today where I am. You should stop by my blog it will warm you up. I wrote about the beach today.
mac - I haven’t been to as many blogs this past week or so because the assholes I work for actually want me to do some work and it’s been really busy. But if it’s 80 degrees and there’s a beach I’ll likely be by soon, real soon. That’s my kind of weather.
It’s actually not too bad here in upstate NY today. Probably about 40, but the wind is making it seem colder. Been raining off and on, and my bones know it. The snow is melting so my yard looks like compete and total shit.
It’s snowing here again today! All winter - no snow. Now that it’s close to ending - snow galore!
Lord of the Dance! Ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
