Just how exciting is today?
August 2nd, 2006 by Bill
As the expression on my face indicates, today is absolutely breathtaking. It’s hard to imagine one man could handle the “wow” factor of this Wednesday.
In my part of the world it’s a lovely summer day - not too hot, not too cool, sun shining like a Lawrence Welk chorus singer. And yet … I am mostly indoors going through the ten billion slips of paper I’ve received in the last year or so from corporations who are happy to suck my wallet dry.
Yes, I am behind in my taxes and I’m trying to tackle that nightmare. You’ve got to love a system that is so complicated that the only way to not take it up the rectum is to pay someone so you can pay someone else. In other words, you take it up the rectum twice, though hopefully not to the same degree.
Even Gonzo is dismayed, as the image on the right indicates. “Don’t we have larger issues to deal with?” she asks. “Are we not born into this life to enjoy God’s bounty?”
No Gonzo. We’re born into this life so knobs in suits can stick it to us again and again in the name of the cant-of-the-week. (What are we cheering for these days? Democracy … except when it interferes with corporate agendas? Freedom … as long as you freely choose what the powers-that-be decide we should freely choose? Oil … and the right to fuck the environment as fast as we possibly can so our children, whom we love and cherish, can live in the outhouse we leave them?)
Oh dear … I should shutup. I feel a tantrum coming on. Didn’t know I was going to go off on that kind of rant …
Taxes do that to me. I might not mind so much if didn’t feel the convoluted system had been devised by rich bastards orchestrating ways to avoid paying. You know, it’s a system where the more money you have the more ways there are to avoid paying taxes. The less you have, the more you’re screwed.

inevitable…
taxes & _ _ _ _ _
You know, I have to be honest … this post is just a cranky fart that slipped through. And the pics are only there because I liked them. I so seldom get pictures of myself I like, and I liked this one, so it had to be posted. And that’s a good Gonzo shot. She insisted it be on the Internet.
I’m behind on my taxes too, but what are they gonna do to me?
Uh, wait, maybe I need to pay them soon.
Yes, I prefer not to find out what they’ll do. When they start sending letters, I begin to get anxious. (Though they seem quite pleasant and agreeable when you phone them, at least here in Canada - or so I’ve found.)
I just want this headache over and done with.
That pic of you made me crack up. I love your dry wit.
I hate taxes, but I like roads to drive on and stuff like that, but I still hate taxes. Oh, and rich people, but that’s probably only because I’m not a rich person.
that is the sweetest pic of gonzo. she doesn’t want to talk about taxes.
