Nope, not missing the west yet
January 11th, 2007 by Bill
We’re approaching mid-January and I have yet to experience what is generally known as, in these northern climes called Canada, “Winter.”
I may regret having written that. I admit it – I’m superstitious and by writing and publishing the sentence above, I may have called down the chilly wrath of the icy gods upon me. Still … it needs sayin’.
Had I not moved east to New Brunswick, I would still be in Edmonton, Alberta, living just off Whyte Avenue and one of those sad buggers caught up in this: Winter storm batters the west.
In Fredericton, where I now live, it has been almost balmy by comparison. (Okay … that may be an exaggeration. But seriously – temperatures have largely been around the 0 to 5 degree Celsius mark, when not warmer, and we’ve had sun, fog, rain … and very little snow. Odd characteristics for a Canadian winter.)
And my point? As I prepare to move into my house in a week and a half, I am quite pleased with my decision to become an Atlantic Canadian.
