Never enough stuff because stuff needs more stuff
January 28th, 2007 by Bill
You know, when you move into a new place, especially a place that is considerably bigger than the one you had previously, and when in moving you got rid of a lot of your “stuff” that was just cluttering up your space, you quickly realize that you need a lot of new stuff if only to make your new place not look as if looters had recently ransacked it.
In other words, I need to fill up the new house. But that’s not likely to happen anytime soon because it would require a layout of money I don’t want to spend. (Though I probably will, eventually.)
Give you a f’r instance … I’m planning on getting a new bed (I’ll ramble about that another time). The point is that soon I’ll have beds so when someone visits or whatever, there will be places for them to sleep. So you think, “Great. I’ve got beds for people.” But then you think, “Shit. Now I need more sheets and blankets and pillows …”
Extra rooms means extra stuff and extra stuff means extra stuff to go with the new stuff so the new stuff is actually functional. And so on.
Camping is so much easier.
(btw … That image is the view from my dining room window. Yes, it is finally winter in New Brunswick.)
