Squirrel feeding in bird feederI’ll give squirrels this: they’re sly, determined little bastards. They have sighted the bird seeder. They have strategized.

They have overwhelmed it.

I went out on the porch this morning and as I was sliding open the door my ears caught the sounds of rodents scurrying. I looked up and saw squirrels fleeing the scene. Oh the humanity!

They had gnawed through the plastic of the seeders lid. They had then managed to pop the lid off. I found it laying abandoned on the ground.

by_morning06sm.jpgThe squirrels soon determined I was no threat. How could such a slight being as me prevent them from enjoying the spoils of their labour?

It appears they were right. As the first image above shows, they were soon back and hilt deep in the feeder gorging on their ill-gotten bounty.

And later, they sunned on the deck railing in clear mockery.

The weaselly little buggers!
