Hometown: “Take a good look around …”
September 4th, 2007 by Bill
Yes, I meandered this afternoon through my old stomping grounds: Ottawa.
“Take a good look around,
this is your hometown.”
And yes, that’s from a Springsteen song. Oddly enough, I think it’s called, “Hometown.” Doesn’t matter … I’m just padding here anyway. By the way, the picture on the right, with the flags? Taken at the National Arts Centre, where I use to work.
Oh, I didn’t work there a long time. But I did work there. Selling season subscriptions. (Yes, a telemarketer. Be kind.)
The picture on the left is from inside Mexicali Rosa’s, in the Glebe, where I use to down beverages with alarming frequency.
Ottawa is a very nice city though a bit pricey to be drawing me back. But I worked in many places while there, went to Carleton University, skated the canal with frequency, and lived in more areas of the city than I care to count. (I was even a bindery press operator at the University of Ottawa Press - think of that!)
And the Ottawa excursion was just one part of this rather interesting, if exhausting, weekend.
